Progress
So what’s been going on?
For the last few months I’ve been trying to assimilate the content from the Blades in the Dark SRD and the Ironsworn SRD into Bladesworn. What I have currently is raw and unedited, but I feel it is good enough to share if for no other reason than as to demonstrate progress.
Rough Beasts v 0.1
Rules summary and character sheets.
The goal was a to make a document that would:
Allow people unfamiliar with the source games to understand the rules.
Provide plenty of advice about how to use the tools.
Originally I thought that I would just slap together the content from the two SRDs and make a sorta Frankenstein document. But ultimately almost none of the text from either SRD made it into what is here. Almost everything here is original words, if not original ideas.
My hope is that these pages provide some insight into how to use the rules. The next parts that I need to work on are:
A presentation of the Rough Beasts setting. Before the content you see here there needs to be a brief presentation of the setting. Probably only about 3 spreads. I need to talk about the nations that went to war and a rough timeline of events. My hope is to tie Assets and Ideals to both of these so they are grounded in the fiction.
Worked examples of the tools in action. After the content you see here there will be a presentation of likely scenarios you would find in your game and how to handle them. Stealth, exploration, combat, relationships, etc. My hope is that each of these should have half a spread and explain a couple of options for how to approach these tools.
Rough Beasts specific tools. This means Assets, Ideals, and Oracles unique to this setting. This will be the real meat of what makes this game a complete package in and of itself. Some of this is done, but not worth showing in it’s current state.
Currently I’m writing up worked examples for how to use these tools in a variety of situations. You’ll find two fully fleshed out examples at the end: Stealth and Combat. My goal is to cover exploration, building relationships, solving mysteries, crafting new tools, and improving your skills.
Let me know if there are any other particular types of examples you’d like to see.
